- Pictures overlap text ...why?Hello, despite I am using relative position some use
report that the pictures on my web site are overlapping
the text. Any one has an idea of what's going on and how
to fix this problem? In my browser everything seem to be
fine. If you wish, you can take a look at it at
http://www.johnshakespeare.com/poetry.htm
Thank you all,

- Changing text every few minutes on a pageIs there a way in FP to create a section of a page where new text is
displayed every few minutes? We want to have paragraphs about what people
are saying about our new product as it is being put into production but want
them to change and not be static. Can this be done in FP and how. If not,
how. Thanks

- Can we save to a floppy while in progress? If they are creating very simple small FP webs (less that ~ 1 MB), or just single web pages w/ some images
File New Web/Site and enter the diskette drive and a folder name as the destination
say: A:\MyFirstWeb
or a:\JanesWeb
- if you make the web name generic, you could prepare a bunch of diskettes in advance w/ an empty web in it (like 1st example) and
set FP to open the last opened web, it would look for the diskette based web on startup (diskette must be in the drive)
The limitation is the web could not be over ~ 1MB w/ all files and images used
(the remainder of the diskette would be for the hidden FP meta files generated by FP)
Teach them how to use File Import in FP to import images or sound files into their FP web before they use them

| Tue 6/22/04 - We have a group of children in a summer class who have created their own web pages using FrontPage 2002. We use
deepfreeze on our systems, which loses all saved data to the HD upon reboot, therefore we want to save the childrens' web pages in
progress from FrontPage to a floppy so they can resume working on them tomorrow. I searched help, but can't find instructions in how
to do this. Any help and guidance in how to do this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you! ---Patti email***@***.com

- changing background on DWTIf I change the background on a DWT, the change does not apply to the pages
to which that DWT is attached. Is this impossible to accomplish with DWT? How
about Themes? I've not tried that yet.

- Getting 553 error when i publish my siteI'm trying to publish a website via frontpage 2002 using the publish option.
Since I don't have front page extensions, I specify the ftp site as the web
to upload to. The publish settings are set to overwrite all files. Every
time I try to publish, front page will randomly error out in the middle of
uploading with an 553 error:
Example
553 Could not determine cwdir: No such file or directory
or...
553 <random folder>/<somefile.htm>: No such file or directory.
It does end up publishing all files until that point. It doesn't seem to
stop at the same time every time it happens. And, I can right click a file
or folder in fp and select "publish selected file" and it uploads without
error.
I was able to set up another ftp site on another server (without frontpage
extensions), and successfully publish the entire site to a new ftp directory.
So, I think this might be a problem with some type of corruption on the
server side? I can copy the entire site to the web server via windows ftp
without error. Thanks for any help.

- How do I put multiple email in form resultsI have a submission form, that emails results to me. I would like to have the
results emailed to several people. Where the email address is I put in a
second address, separated by a ; (semi colon). That did not seem to work.
Does anyone know if this can be done?

- Problem - creating new pageOn "computer A" when working on a Frontpage website, Frontpage crashes with
an application error when I try to save the new page to the site.
On "computer B" it works fine I can do what ever I want.
Any thoughts as to where FP saves the temp files (I'd like to clear them
off); I've cleared out c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp
and that hasn't helped. I've also done a detect and repair... do I have to
go as far as reinstalling office or Frontpage? FP2000.
Thanks.

- Cannot delete files have a windows 2000 server runnning FrontPage extensions and the users
are sometimes reporting that they cannot delete their files. They are
assigned the "Advanced Author" role which gives them the ability to
"Author Pages - User can create, edit, or "delete" HTML pages and
directories."
However, when I open the properties -security tab for the folder, the
permissions box is showing that Advanced Authors are only allowed to
"list folder contents" then when I click the Advanced button on the
bottom right corner and view the permissions tab the users account is
showing that the permission columns allows them to modify.
Furthermore, if I click the View/Edit button it shows that the
permissions to Delete subfolders and Files is not selected in the allow
column.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem so users can delete their files
with the Advanced Author role?
Thanks.

- "Company FAX" auto-inserted--how to change? When using one of the built-in templates to create a web site, FP
auto-inserted several fields such as "Company Phone" and "Company FAX". How
do I change the values of these fields? Normal find/replace doesn't work.
Thanks!

frontpage-client, How do I set up a form results database?
I am trying to set up a form on one of my web pages using front page that
collects contact info from customers. How do I set up the database to
collect the info?? I am very confused and have no clue how to go about it or
where to find a step-by-step process that explains itself.

- Still desperate - spawn problems!Hi there,
I have come back to you guys asd Jimco won't reply to me - anyone got their
number as it is not on their website?
I am still having this problem,
I need to open a Jalbum photogaller in a spwan window.
Jalbum works great.
I put all the links in - choose the window size etc via the span addin - in
design . the correcxt album comes up - but not in a window but as a normal
page size.
In preview - I get a message saying that the URL is wrong - I click OK and
the spawn windo pops up - but with no album. Inpreview in browser I get the
right page (JAlbum photo gallery) but no spwn window - any suggestions -
please help me to get over this hurdel then I can finish the websiet (it is
not yet published)
As an extra question - what are Frontpage devices like - are they worth
paying for? I would reallly like to have a decent navigation bar,
regards,

with this flippin computer!)

- Can a child window post information back to the parent window?I have a database query that displays results on page1.
I have set 6 of the query parameters with the LIKE operator.
Then I have a button that can be clicked to open a second window, that I am
calling a 'popup', that has a form with fields for those six parameters. I
then want the user to be able to fill in one or more of the fields and when
that form is submitted, I want that 'popup' window to close and have the
values from that form be passed back to page1 so I can insert them into the
dbase query.

- Cannot create folder _vti_cnfWhen publishing my site via FP 2003, I'm getting the message:

If that is a permissions error, how do I tell which directory FP is trying to publish to?

- Front Page 2003 Layout Tables and CellsA couple days ago I made a post about not being able to add a border to a
layout cell without getting the following error message:
Can't apply borders. The cell formatting table is too small. Make sure
the table is well formed and big enough to accomodate the new decoration.
There were no replies to my question however, I have since found out what to
do to correct this. The cell was 250px by 250px and was contained in a
larger table. In order to add a 1px border to all sides of this cell, I had
to change the cell size to 252px by 252 px. Just thought I would pass the
information along.

- Is My Website a Risk?I have several websites, using nothing more than simple Javascript, which
are all perfectly safe. People have e-mailed complaing that when one visits
the website a warning notice appears, implying the website may not be safe.
Also, immediately on arriving at the doorway page, with nothing but a simple
graphic as a link to enter the site, Norton pops a notice up saying
"Download content has been blocked. You computer is secure". This does not
affect the operation of the website but frightens the inexperienced surfer.
Is there any way to alleviate this problem?
TIA

- additionally...
the problem seems to be only on that computer. I use the computer to run all
sorts of other programs, mainly graphic design programs. They all work fine.
I receive and send email just fine through outlook.
I have installed and re-installed FrontPage. From FP2000 to FP 2003!
I realize that this is not as much a problem with FP itself, but I was
hoping that someone else here may have seen this happen before and had any
information or inkling as to why this would happen.
When you look at the remote website through an FTP program, there are all
these files - I mean, it just looks like duplicates upon duplicates. I try to
delete some, but again, no permissions.
I also noticed that there are two index files. Two different extensions. htm
and html
It has been my experience that the index page needs to be html
(I'll delete the htm one, but I doubt that is going to solve anything)
I also noticed that there two complete copies of the htm files/pages.
One is under a file labeled htdocs the other is under the htdocs/_vti_cnf
folder
Since one of the error messages says ":Cannot open "we80.cnf": no such file
or folder. " I am really tempted to just delete that entire folder....
I guess what I am asking, is, if this were your website, what would you do?
I am guessing I should have the provider temporarily host the site on
another domain name (use a redirect from the main domain name) then delete
the entire site, remove FP, re-install it, then start over and see what
happens?
If that doesn't work: I just can't imagine what would be so different about
the computer and how it is configured that it makes FP behave as it has been.
Again, any help, at all, appreciated.

- FrontPage 2003 / Access Database Search Question.I want to search an access database field for one or more words and return
the records that have matches in that field. When I use the Database Results
Wizard it allows me to search the field for one word only. I would like to
modify the search box so that I can enter more than one word to search for.
At present if I enter more than one word it does not return any records. It
will find matches for one word only. Is there any way to enter more than one
word in a search box and search a field for matches and return the records?
Thanks for any replies.

- FP2003 Layout tablesEvery once in a while while working with FP 2003 Layout tables I get an error
message that says I can't add a cell border because the cell formatting cell
is too small. I have been able to work around this by removing everything
from the table (this is a nested table) and anything next to this table, add
the border, and then put the stuff back in place. Is there an easier way to
do this?

- Customers need to access private pages on our web through one geneAlthough labor intensive (depending on how many customers you have), one way
would be to use cPanel to create a directory/folder for each one of your
customers, then password protect that directory. Put the customer's user
page in the directory as 'index.html' (or whatever your default page title
must be) and provide them with the username and password to access the
page/directory. The database solution suggested by Stefan would be much
better.

- Edit Discussion Board LayoutOn my discussion board when you click on a topic, it shows the remote name of
the poster and date and time. How do I change it so it doesn't display all
that information without doing it manually for each one...
