- HTML to Text?I create an HTML newsletter (using FP 2003), which I send out to around 550
club members (using a program call WorldCast by Fairlogic). I also mail out
a printed version (using Pub 2003 to create it) to another 250 members. I
then place the HTML version on the website. I think I would like to just
convert the HTML version to text to mail out along with the link to which
they may go for the HTML version if they wish to read it. Is there a good
clean way of converting the HTML version over to plain text to mail out the
my mail recipients? Just saving to text leaves in all of the html code, etc.

- FP Forms processing totals - HELP!!! I'm desperate.... :-(Hi everyone,
Can anyone out there tell me if FP has the capability to
make a form act like a spread sheet. i.e. I have a field
for someone to enter a number (how many words in an ad)
and I want it to multiply that number by .80 and put the
result in a 'total' field. Please view this page (form is
not completely set up, the field names etc. but you will
understand further if you look here) and tell me FP can
do it without any custom scripting since I am not a
programmer. I know in javascript it can count the number
of boxes that they put words in, but I can't do that
either. Is there a FP component or anything that can
help?
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom, advice or url
of tutorial to achieve this.

- Slide Show/Photo Gallery-FP2003RE: Photo Gallery/Slide Show -- FrontPage 2003 (Windows XP with SP2)
New Photo Gallery: I Add-ed five pictures (all .jpg's). Under Photo Gallery
Properties, I selected the Layout tab and clicked on Slide Show, but. there
isn't a true "slide show," that is, as I define a slide show! The five
pictures appear as thumbnails above one enlarged picture, but there isn't an
automatic slide show, nor am I given that option. I am able to enlarge each
picture, but that must be done manually by selecting each pic.
Btw, the two little arrows, one on each side of the pics, are not
"active"... they can not be highlighted, nor do they function. Is this a
clue?
Is this the way slide show works in FrontPage, or am I doing something
wrong?
I will admit, this is an enhancement over having to go back and forth by
selecting each thumbnail (that is, without selecting the Slide Show option
under Layout). But, I had visions of an actual automated slide show cycling
through one pic after the other, without having to select each pic. Did I
expect too much, or have I done something wrong. or, or, or? And, why don't
the little arrows function?
I would greatly appreciate your insight, patience and assistance... and I
await your reply.
Thanks

frontpage-client, FP2003 publishing error
Trying to publish to server, I have the following error: in directory x,
contains more than 32 folders. This is when FP is making a list of files on
the host site.
My host have reinstalled the FP server extentions, and I have recalculated
the hyperlinks in both rhe local site and the host site, but continue to have
the same error, except that it will point to different directories.
Anyone have a solution?
Many thanks in advance,

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with Expression Web Designer and
SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.
Then open your web and recalculate hyperlinks.
See if it helps.

Hi Steve,

Do my host need to do the same excersize on the server?

- New Demo Designer Application
I just downloaded the new designer. I am looking forward to trying it out
yet wondered whether I should install it on a machine that has Frontpage
2003 installed for fear of corrupting my working version. I assume I would
install it as a new application but wondered what the Mocrosoft MVPs
suggest.

- adding Paypal buttons to photo galleryIt sounds as if your solution is to put the 7 items on the page "by hand"
instead of using the photo gallery format. Take a look at
www.mountainrivergallery.com. You don't need to have table borders showing
if you don't like that, but a table does help to keep the item photo,
description, and "buy now" button together in a clear way. When you copy and
paste the paypal code, use "Paste Special / Paste as HTML." Sometimes it's a
little tricky to get the code in the right place, but with a little
experience you'll learn to recognize how the paypal code works and can tweak
it to suit your layout.

- add a link to front page from internet explorerThis is really basic, but I need help!!
I have been taught how to edit pages from my School's website, by clicking
on a Front Page icon that in the toolbar of Internet Explorer.
I have just updated IE to a more recent version, and the icon has
disappeared. I now don't know how to open the pages, as before I only had to
open the webpage I wanted to edit and then click the icon!!
Is there any way of getting the icon back on IE?

- Server requesting pw to be sent INSECURE (basic authentication)When attempting to Open Web, the login window keeps returning even though
username and password are correct. It displays the following:
Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent
in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection). How
do I either comply or get the server to require a secure login? About a year
ago I used to be able to login without any problem at all. The web host
provider is the same, and I'm using the same Front Page 2002. Front Page
Extensions are on and web is unlocked.
Your solution will be considered a blessing.

- Backing up and restoring Frontpage 2000 websI have many FrontPage 2000 webs on a single server (Main site - then many
subwebs).
I need to move the webs on to a new server. In all - there are about 200,000
documents.
I have been backing up this server (wwwroot and all subfolders) with NT
backup.
Is it possible to restore from a backup to the new server?
The new server will have the same name as the old one - the old one will be
taken off-line - I will rename the new server with the old server name.
Or - is there a better way to do this? I can't seem to find good disaster
recovery docs on FrontPage webs -While it is not the case - what if my server
died?
I have tried to set the webs up on a new server with a different name.
I did the publish function, but ran into permissions problems. (I was going
to just use the host header for client requests to the web server - this is
for a Intranet).
Additionally and unfortunately - Some of the hyperlinks point to file paths
- that is why I am now going to just rename the new server to the old server
name.
Thanks,
Tom C

- Lost Navigational Menu - Cascading Style SheetFellow FPers,
I've been in beta test mode for a few weeks now, using cascading style
sheets
to provide a uniform navigation across all my webpages. I'm using
FP2002
with Yahoo!Store (unix variant)
I recently made a minor change in the navigational file names (seach
engine
optimization) on my client PC which caused a weird problem at the
next site upload.
1. The navigational menus are fine on my PC using either FP or IE
2. Almost all pages on the server have missing navigational info at the
top & bottom css areas. The site was all working fine until my last
site upload/refresh. See:
http://www.bridgehands.com
3. At least one page still works properly with the top/bottom
navigational menu like the good old days:
http://bridgehands.com/Help/Site_Map.HTM
Over the beta cycle, I've been constantly fixing Unix-Microsoft
file name incompatability (case.htm vs CASE.HTM,
space%20bar.html vs space_bar.html, Second's.htm vs seconds.htm, etc)
I'd appreciate your thoughts on how to restore the navigational menus
on my webpages.
Regards,
Michael
